Agreement signed: Mylab to renew HUSLAB’s laboratory information system

Cooperation between Mylab and HUSLAB goes a long way back and will continue long into the future.

Mylab and HUSLAB have signed an agreement for Mylab to replace all of HUSLAB’s old laboratory systems with a total laboratory information solution.

The agreement covers three phases: one and a half years preparing the new system, ten years of operation and a two-year continuation project.

Sopimus kattaa kolme vaihetta aina puolentoista vuoden mittaisesta valmistelusta järjestelmän 10-vuotiseen käyttöön ja 2-vuotiseen jatkovaiheeseen.

– The agreement covers cooperation between Mylab and HUSLAB all the way through until 2025. This means a solid future for Mylab, says Esa Soini, Managing Director of Mylab.

According to Soini, the agreement sends a particularly strong message.

– The agreement means continuity and stability in these economically uncertain times. HUSLAB has been our main cooperation partner since Mylab was established and we are extremely satisfied that our cooperation shall continue long into the future as well.

A major effort

With approximately 14,000 users in the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa, HUSLAB’s laboratory information system will be the largest clinical system that will be completely renewed while remaining continuously operational.

– That is a major challenge even for Mylab, Soini says.

HUSLAB feels secure about the system upgrade:

– TThe project involves a lot of work, but all of it is very necessary. Above all, it is an opportunity, says Piia Aarnisalo, Managing Director of HUSLAB.

According to Aarnisalo, HUSLAB’s target is a modern system that can meet both current and future needs and also enable development of laboratory work. In terms of the latter, Aarnisalo also refers to HUSLAB’s new building, where chemistry, microbiology, pathology and genetics laboratories shall all be gathered under one roof, which will change the way that things are done.

– Renewal of our laboratory system supports development of work processes as well. Therefore, we are eagerly looking forward to starting the cooperation project.
